We're not a media conglomerate or a publisher-funded outlet. We're a small team of Australian gamers who decided the local scene deserved better coverage than it was getting.
SignalFrag started in 2019 in a two-bedroom apartment in Surry Hills, Sydney. Three friends, a shared frustration, and one question: why does every major gaming outlet treat Australian players as an afterthought?
The ANZ esports scene was growing fast, but coverage was thin. Review scores were being negotiated behind closed doors. Nobody was playing games long enough to actually know what they were talking about. We decided to fix that — or at least try.
Seven years later, SignalFrag has reviewed over 600 titles, covered 140+ ANZ tournaments, and built a readership of 75,000 monthly visitors who trust us precisely because we've never taken a shortcut.
Small team, high standards. Every review you read on SignalFrag was written by one of these four people.
Former competitive FPS player. Has reviewed over 250 titles. Refuses to publish a score without finishing the game.
Survival and horror specialist. 55-hour Ashfall playthrough is her personal record. Based in Melbourne, VIC.
Covers the ANZ tournament circuit full-time. Has attended over 80 live events across Australia and New Zealand.
Racing game obsessive and ranked MOBA player. Covers both genres with the kind of depth that comes from actually being good at them.
No payment for review scores or editorial placement. Advertising and editorial are separated by a wall that doesn't move.
We sometimes receive review copies from publishers. Always disclosed. Never influences the score.
20 hours minimum. For story games, we aim for completion. Play time is always disclosed in the review header.
Factual errors are corrected promptly and noted at the top of the article. We don't quietly edit and pretend it didn't happen.
We're occasionally looking for Australian writers who can prove they've finished the games they're reviewing. Send a pitch with your play history and we'll take it seriously.
